DP World Tour tells Bryson DeChambeau he can have full 2027 status if he applies

The Telegraph reported Thursday that Category 1 membership is available to the two-time U.S. Open champion after LIV's wind-down, with a mid-November application deadline. Golf Channel and The Guardian separately tracked the same European path.

  • The DP World Tour has told Bryson DeChambeau's camp that he can take full playing privileges for 2027 if he wants them, The Telegraph reported Thursday as LIV Golf moved into liquidation.

Golf Channel, citing that exclusive, said the offer is Category 1 membership, the exemption for winners of majors and the Race to Dubai in the past seven years. DeChambeau has not announced a plan. The same report put his application deadline at Nov. 14.

  • Who else sits in that category

Jon Rahm, already planning a full DP World Tour slate in 2027, qualifies the same way. Golf Channel also listed 2022 Open champion Cameron Smith as Category 1-eligible. Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Sergio Garcia are among the former LIV players who have already said they intend to return to Europe's tour.

  • The Guardian reported Thursday that the tour expects an influx of LIV players and is ready to extend an olive branch that includes DeChambeau. It noted he has never been a DP World Tour member, remains under the PGA Tour's one-year LIV ban, and that his major-winner membership window closes next season, with an application deadline the paper put at Nov. 16.

  • Why the path opened now

DeChambeau was one of the names LIV tried to lock for LIV 2.0. That relaunch collapsed when BC Partners pulled its roughly $300 million commitment and lawyers told a New Jersey bankruptcy court the league is winding down. He had recently said on the Figuring Out podcast that LIV 2.0's business model "makes a lot of sense" and that he hoped the league would "exist forever."

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp has treated the Returning Members Program that brought Brooks Koepka back as a one-time offer, which leaves Europe as the clearest full-membership route for DeChambeau in 2027.

  • What it means for sim golfers

Indoor golf's biggest crossover star now has a concrete European membership path on the calendar, not just speculation about majors and YouTube. Watch whether he files by mid-November, and whether that schedule shows up next to his creator workload when Episode releases and TGL/WTGL nights already compete for the same audience.

    What to watch

DeChambeau still has to apply. Category 1 gets him into the DP World Tour field; it does not reopen the PGA Tour's closed return window on its own.
