How to Become a Golf Simulator Course Builder

Which simulators let you build and share your own golf courses, what tools each one uses, and how course owners get a real course onto platforms that build their own libraries.

Short answer: start with GSPro. Its free OPCD workflow has the biggest player base, thousands of community courses to learn from, and a path from free releases to a paid Patreon. Infinite Tees is the quicker browser-based option if you play on it.

Builder guides

  • GSPro

    Open to anyone

Anyone can build a GSPro course, and the build tools cost nothing. You turn LiDAR terrain and aerial imagery into a 3D course with QGIS, Inkscape, Blender and the OPCD toolset, assemble it in Unity, set pins, tees and hazards in GreenKeeper, and share it on the SGT course server or your own Patreon.

  • Infinite Tees

    Open to anyone

Infinite Tees builds courses in Superintendent, a browser tool that turns real-world LiDAR into playable courses. It is included in both Infinite Tees plans and needs no game-development experience.

  • ProTee GolfCore

    Planned

ProTee GolfCore is built around a course editor with LiDAR import. ProTee showed it at the 2026 PGA Show; the public release date is not confirmed.

  • The Golf Club 2019

    Legacy

The Golf Club 2019 had the easiest course designer in sim golf and a library of 150,000+ user courses, but the game is winding down: 2K ended its online services on October 30, 2025 and ProTee stopped selling new licenses in March 2025.

Can you build courses on every platform?

For course owners: get your course into a simulator

Trackman
Contact Trackman and ask for a local representative. Trackman visits, flies the course with a LiDAR drone, photographs every hole and builds it in-house. It has also built courses before they opened, from the architect's plans. Trackman: get your course in the library
PurePlay
Request the course on PurePlay's course map. PurePlay says a signed agreement with the club puts it in the build queue and that it builds the course at no cost. PurePlay FAQ
GSPro
Hire or partner with a GSPro designer. Some take commissions; browse the designers in The Perfect Lie directory and contact them through their profiles.
Foresight, E6, Golfzon and others
These libraries are built and licensed by the vendor. Contact the company's course licensing or partnerships team directly.

Questions

Which golf simulators let you build your own courses?

GSPro (free OPCD toolset with Unity and GreenKeeper) and Infinite Tees (Superintendent browser tool) let anyone build and share courses today. ProTee GolfCore has a course editor in development and PurePlay plans community courses after launch. The Golf Club 2019 had a designer but is winding down.

How long does it take to build a GSPro course?

A first course usually takes many weeks of evenings. Experienced designers with good LiDAR move much faster. Greens, bunkers and vegetation take the longest.

Is GSPro course design software free?

The tools cost nothing to start: QGIS, Inkscape, Blender and Unity are free, the OPCD toolset is distributed through the OPCD community (check its Discord for current terms), and GreenKeeper comes from GSPro. You need a GSPro license to test your course.

Do I need permission to recreate a real golf course?

Ask the club before you publish a recreation of a real course. Many clubs agree, and some will share hole photos or green plans. Fantasy courses need no permission.

How do I get my golf course into a simulator?

Trackman maps courses through its local representatives, and PurePlay builds requested courses for free once the club signs an agreement. For GSPro, commission a community designer. Other vendors license courses directly.
