PopStroke adds a $100-a-year unlimited mini golf pass for players 60 and over

The Tiger Woods-backed chain says the senior pass works at any location with no blackout dates. Families can also add kids 12 and under to a membership that includes a free meal each visit.

  • PopStroke, the mini golf and restaurant chain backed by Tiger Woods and TaylorMade, now sells a pass for guests 60 and older: unlimited play on its 18-hole putting courses for $100 a year, or $10 a month. The company's site says the pass works at any PopStroke location with no blackout dates or restricted hours. An ID is required on the first visit.

CEO Greg Bartoli told the Palm Beach Post, in a story Golfweek also ran Monday, that inflation, gas prices and other rising costs are squeezing customers, and seniors on fixed or limited incomes in particular. "A huge portion of our guests are over 60," he said. "We want to be an affordable place."

    The family side

PopStroke's Kids Eat Free program, announced July 30, lets members add children 12 and under to an adult membership for $20 a month. Each child gets unlimited mini golf and one free kids meal per visit, and adult members keep their 20% discount on food and drinks. A kids day pass bought along with an adult day pass also comes with a free kids meal.

  • The company's own comparison table lists its previous family membership at $15 a month without the meal. So the kids add-on costs $5 more than before, and food is now part of it.

Everyone else pays the regular day-pass price, which varies by location, according to Golfweek and PopStroke's site.

    Who runs it

Bartoli founded PopStroke and runs it as CEO. Woods and TaylorMade are investors. The chain has more than 20 locations.

  • What to do with it

If you're 60 or older and putt at a PopStroke more than a few times a year, compare the $100 annual pass with your local venue's day-pass rate on its page before you sign up, since prices differ from place to place. Seniors can sign up online or in person at their nearest location. Families who already have a membership can upgrade to the kids-meal version by asking a golf associate at their local PopStroke, the company says.
