  • TGL will remain on ESPN under a multiyear extension of its U.S. media rights agreement, ESPN and TMRW Sports announced Thursday. The league’s next season begins Sunday, December 27, at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

The 2027 season will have seven teams of PGA Tour players, with Motor City Golf Club making its debut. The announcement establishes the league’s domestic television partner and opening date; the full schedule, commentators and production details will follow before the season begins.

Sports Business Journal reporter Josh Carpenter reported the renewal Thursday. His report places the renewal ahead of the league’s third season.

  • A familiar channel for a different format

TGL combines simulator technology with live golf in an arena, presenting team matches in primetime. ESPN has been its U.S. media partner since the league launched, so viewers will have the same broadcast home as the competition expands for its third season.

The Palm Beach Post’s Tom D’Angelo reported that the December 27 opener again puts TGL against the NFL on a Sunday. The league has yet to announce the opening match’s teams or start time. Last season’s opener began at 3 p.m. on ABC; that earlier time and channel are context, rather than a confirmed listing for this December.

  • The renewal also gives the league time to develop its audience. Carpenter reported 488,000 average viewers during the 2026 season, measured with Nielsen’s Big Data + Panel method. The first season averaged 498,000 using Panel-only measurement, so the two figures should not be treated as a straight measure of audience change.

  • ESPN and TMRW Sports said more than 30% of TGL viewers report that they do not regularly watch other professional golf. That is the partners’ audience claim, separate from the reported Nielsen averages.

For fans planning to watch, December 27 is the date to keep. The rest of the season’s viewing details are still to come.
