PurePlay flyovers add Tasmanian Dunes and Canada's Silvertip a week before early access

  • Two more PurePlay course flyovers went up on YouTube in the past week, giving sim golfers a look at layouts they will be able to judge for themselves once PurePlay's early access opens November 6 at 5 p.m. Eastern. Hosel Rocket Golf posted a full 18-hole flyover of Tasmanian Dunes on October 29. Eaglesnbirdies followed on October 31 with Silvertip Resort, a mountain course in Canmore, Alberta.

  • Hosel Rocket Golf's video runs a little over 12 minutes, with no commentary and light background music. The channel describes a coastal links layout with ocean views, rolling dunes and heavy bunkering, and lists the location as Tasmania, Australia. The video doesn't say whether the layout is modeled on a specific real course. This is the same channel that flew over PurePlay's Kidnappers in mid-October.

    Silvertip Resort

Eaglesnbirdies' Silvertip video is part of what its thumbnail calls a PurePlay Flyover Series and runs just under nine minutes. The uploader has turned off embedding, so you will need to watch it on YouTube.

  • The resort says its 18-hole, par-72 course was designed by Les Furber, climbs and falls more than 600 feet, and plays from five sets of tees between 5,100 and 7,200 yards, with a slope rating of 153 from the championship tees. The real course has closed for the season, and the resort is pointing golfers to its indoor simulator lounge for the winter.

What a flyover can and can't tell you

Neither video shows a shot being hit. A flyover shows routing, elevation and how a course looks in PurePlay's Unreal Engine build. It tells you nothing about putting, ball flight or how your launch monitor reads. PurePlay has not published a price and says the figure will show at checkout. If Silvertip's elevation or a links course on the Tasmanian coast is why you are interested, these two videos are a fair preview before you decide on November 6.
