OpenLaunch Connect gives Mac golfers a direct R10 link to GSPro

The free community app’s first public release handles Bluetooth on macOS, while GSPro itself remains a Windows program.

  • A community developer released OpenLaunch Connect 1.0.0 on October 20, offering Garmin Approach R10 owners a native Mac app that forwards shots to GSPro through its OpenConnect interface.

The project targets Apple silicon Macs, including setups that run GSPro through CrossOver. Its purpose is to handle the R10’s Bluetooth connection in macOS and send the shot data onward, avoiding a phone-based relay.

The developer announced the project in a discussion about GSPro on Apple silicon. GitHub records its first public release at 12:08 p.m. Eastern on October 20; the release notes say earlier versions were developed privately.

The project’s documentation describes an R10-to-Mac Bluetooth connection followed by a local connection to GSPro. Its stated requirements are an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 12 or newer, an Approach R10 and a GSPro licence appropriate to the monitor.

Features listed for version 1.0 include shot history, per-club averages and CSV export, plus a small overlay for the selected club, battery status and last shot. The developer also describes automatic reconnection and notifications when a shot is not delivered.

Those are the project’s published capabilities. The release does not establish how reliably the app will work with every Mac, R10 firmware version or CrossOver configuration.

  • GSPro’s own requirements still apply

GSPro’s current FAQ says the simulator requires a Windows PC and is not available for macOS or iOS. It separately lists the R10 among supported launch monitors and documents an open interface for community integrations.

OpenLaunch Connect therefore adds a community connection route for Mac users who already have a way to run the Windows software. It does not create a native Mac edition of GSPro. The repository explicitly says the app is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Garmin or GSPro.

The first supported monitor is the R10. The documentation says other monitors could follow, which is a development intention rather than a current compatibility list. The distributed app is ad-hoc signed and not notarized by Apple, according to the project’s installation notes.
