Charlie Woods’s Sawgrass stinger starts with a club-choice conversation
TaylorMade’s full practice-round video adds tee-shot decisions, flight choices and putting reads to the September short.

Charlie Woods’s low drawing tee shot is the moment TaylorMade pulled into a short clip September 25. The longer practice-round video supplies the more useful context: Woods is choosing a club and shape for the 18th hole at TPC Sawgrass, after talking through where a driver would need to go.
TaylorMade published the full nine-hole video September 22. It follows Woods preparing for the Junior PLAYERS Championship and gives viewers his reasoning on tee shots, approaches and putting. The manufacturer’s accompanying report says he later finished tied for eighth, at one under, with tournament rounds of 71, 73 and 71. The practice video is separate from those competitive scores.
The shot follows a decision
On the final tee, Woods considers driver, three-wood and a shorter option. He says three-wood is easier for him to draw and avoids asking the driver to carry over the corner. He then elects to try a stinger draw for fun. The ensuing reaction is the short’s centerpiece; the full conversation explains what led to it.

We were not expecting THAT.
Read source ↗ That distinction matters for golfers using the clip as inspiration. It records a specific player’s shot choice and execution, without teaching a complete stinger technique or establishing a measured carry distance.
Build the bag around the flight
Earlier in the round, Woods discusses a driver setup intended to favor a fade and reduce the left miss. On another hole, he turns a warning about the left side into a positive target: leave himself a more acceptable miss to the right.
He also explains the decision between a driving iron and seven-wood. In his assessment, they cover similar distances but provide different flights. He is leaning toward seven-wood for the week’s conditions and still has time to decide. It is a practice-round choice, rather than a permanent equipment change.

Charlie Woods Mic'd Up 9-Hole Practice Round at TPC Sawgrass
Read source ↗ The video’s putting discussion is similarly personal. Woods describes visualizing how the ball will roll, the pace it will travel and where it will enter the cup. That explanation appears between shots, giving the round more substance than a string of highlights.
TaylorMade announced Woods’s NIL agreement September 4. Its release identified him as a rising senior at the Benjamin School and a 2027 Florida State commit. Those dates put the practice content in its junior-golf setting; the short is not evidence of a new signing or a new tournament result.
For viewers, the strongest lesson is the conversation before the shot: decide which flight and miss fit the hole, then choose a club. The memorable stinger sits inside that larger process.
Another Sawgrass target: the island green
A separate archival clip shared by Golf Digest October 2 shows Michael Jordan at Sawgrass’s island-green 17th, with footage credited to The Players. Golf Digest describes the tee shot as a “dart.” The video’s repost date does not establish when Jordan played the hole.
Jordan’s clip features a different player and hole from Woods’s September practice-round stinger on the 18th. TPC Sawgrass’s official course guide identifies the 17th as a par three with water around its green. It credits Alice Dye with suggesting the island-green solution after sand was excavated around the site during construction.
The two clips offer different Sawgrass targets: Woods explains a club-and-flight decision on the closing par four, while the Jordan archive returns to the small island-green target. Neither clip supplies a measured shot distance or, by itself, a tournament score.
