Tiger Woods is back on the range, but a return to competition is still unknown

Tiger Woods is back on a practice range. The PGA Tour posted a short video Tuesday showing Woods hitting balls, a public sign of activity after he stepped away from golf this year to focus on his health.

The clip is notable for what it shows and what it does not. Woods is making full swings in a controlled setting; the post does not announce a tournament, a target date or a return to the PGA Tour. His last PGA Tour start was in July 2024.

That gap gives the footage a different weight than an ordinary practice video. Woods has remained one of golf's central figures even while his playing schedule stalled. The PGA Tour's player record lists his most recent competition in 2024, while its March statement said he was stepping away from professional golf to concentrate on his health after a car accident.

A range session can answer a narrow question: can Woods get back to hitting golf shots in public? It cannot answer the harder ones. The video also does not identify where it was filmed or say how long the session lasted.

For now, the useful update is simply that Woods is working with a club in his hands again. Until then, the range footage is a glimpse of progress rather than a comeback announcement.
