TGL roster breakdown flags Jupiter's distance hole and Boston's putter

Justin Ray's team-by-team look says Keith Mitchell fills Jupiter Links' weakest category from the first two seasons. Boston Common returns as the league's clearest putting club after Michael Thorbjornsen's leap to a full-time spot.

  • TGL posted a roster strengths package on October 20 that goes past the seven five-player lists. Stats writer Justin Ray walked through each club's 2025 and 2026 indoor numbers and the PGA Tour trends behind the new names, and the league pushed that piece again on October 22.

The clearest upgrade call sits with Jupiter Links Golf Club. Ray wrote that Jupiter ranked last in average driving distance in each of TGL's first two seasons. Newcomer Keith Mitchell has finished in the top 25 in strokes gained off the tee and average driving distance in each of the last six PGA Tour seasons, which is the exact hole the club has carried into SoFi Center.

  • What Ray said about the rest of the field

Atlanta Drive GC adds Michael Brennan and promotes Chris Gotterup from alternate duty. Ray noted they are the only two players on the PGA Tour this season with 400 or more drives of 320 yards. Brennan's average proximity of 42 feet, 7 inches on approaches from 200 yards and longer leads the Tour, nearly eight feet better than the Tour average, which matters on TGL's Triples par-5 screens.

  • Boston Common Golf led the 2026 regular season in Triples win percentage, fairways hit and greens in regulation after going winless in the inaugural year. The Ballfrogs also made 16 putts from 10 feet or longer, twice as many as any other club. Michael Thorbjornsen accounted for six of those long makes and now holds a full roster spot beside Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Keegan Bradley and Hideki Matsuyama.

Los Angeles Golf Club keeps the core that swept Jupiter in the finals. Ray pointed out that lineups with Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood went 6-1 across two seasons and that LAGC led ScreenZone strokes gained off the tee, approach and ball striking last year while making 65.5 percent of putts from five to 10 feet.

The Bay Golf Club trades Open champion Shane Lowry's production for reigning Open champion Ryan Fox and 19-year-old Blades Brown. Ray tied The Bay's 2026 playoff miss to last-place fairways and greens-in-regulation rates after leading both in 2025. Fox ranked inside the Tour's top 25 in average driving distance (314.8 yards) and rate of 320-yard-plus drives (39.6 percent) this season.

  • New York Golf Club ranked last in putts made from 10 feet or longer in 2026 after leading that category in 2025. Ray flags Ben Griffin's Tour putting profile and Alex Fitzpatrick's tee-to-green season as the intended repairs. Motor City Golf Club's debut group, built around Brooks Koepka, Jackson Koivun and Si Woo Kim, gets the expansion-team treatment: major pedigree plus Kim's top-three proximity bands from 125 to 200 yards.

    What to watch next

TGL still has not released the 2027 match schedule. Season play starts Sunday, December 27, at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, with teams choosing three players from five each night. For sim golfers, Ray's notes are a match-prep checklist: Jupiter's length problem, Boston's lag putting, Atlanta's power pair and New York's short-game reset are the first places to look once the opener is named.
