Pinehurst No. 11 takes shape ahead of its March 2027 opening

Pinehurst No. 11 is moving toward its March 29, 2027 opening, and a new Pinehurst Resort video offers a detailed look at the course before golfers can play it. Bill Coore walks the front nine and discusses the work taking place across the former Sandmines property.

The course is being built by Coore and Ben Crenshaw on land shaped by earlier mining and reclaimed by nature. Pinehurst describes the routing as a course of ridges, mounds and native vegetation, with each hole offering a different view and set of challenges.

The resort's current No. 11 page confirms the March 29 date and identifies Coore, Crenshaw and the wider design and maintenance team involved in the project. The video is a progress look at a course still under construction, so it does not show a completed playing experience or establish how the course will perform once it opens.

For simulator golfers and course-design followers, the useful story is the design process: how an existing landscape, mined ground and native growth are being used to shape the holes. Pinehurst has also announced a new clubhouse, lodge and cabin at Sandmines for 2027, extending the project beyond the course itself.
