  • The LPGA's LOTTE Championship will move to Kapalua's Plantation Course in 2027, bringing a professional tournament back to the Maui venue after The Sentry's departure. Competition is scheduled for March 18–21, with a $3 million purse.

The LPGA announced the move on October 5. Golf Channel's October 6 report confirms the competition dates and places LOTTE one week after the new Nanea Cup on Hawaii's Big Island. Together, the events create a two-week Hawaiian stretch following the tour's first Asian swing.

The move changes both the island and the season for LOTTE. The tournament began at Ko Olina in 2012 and moved to Hoakalei Country Club in 2022. Its latest edition finished there in October, with Jeeno Thitikul winning on Sunday. The next edition takes the event from Oahu to Maui and from fall to March.

  • Kapalua has LPGA history, though the previous visit was to a different course. Morgan Pressel won the Kapalua LPGA Classic at the Bay Course in 2008. The Plantation Course hosted the PGA Tour's Tournament of Champions, most recently known as The Sentry, from 1999 through 2025.

Golf Channel reports that water restrictions and disputes, alongside the PGA Tour's scheduling changes, contributed to the end of that tournament at Kapalua. LOTTE's arrival gives the Plantation Course a new place on a professional calendar.

The venue's own description identifies a Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw design with broad fairways, generous greens and pronounced elevation changes. Those familiar features will be part of a different competition in March.

  • The preceding Nanea Cup adds another dimension to the trip. Its announced format brings LPGA professionals and selected college players into the same event at Nanea Golf Club in Kailua-Kona. That field structure was announced in July; the fresh development is LOTTE joining it to form consecutive Hawaii weeks.

For golf viewers, the result is a return to a recognizable course through a new tournament. The LPGA gets a Maui stop and a paired Hawaii schedule, while LOTTE starts its next chapter at the Plantation Course.
