Aki Iwai shot a bogey-free 6-under 66 overnight at Taiheiyo Club Minori to take a one-stroke lead into Sunday at the TOTO Japan Classic. The Associated Press and LPGA have her at 15 under, one clear of Thailand's Arpichaya Yubol. Defending champion Nasa Hataoka, who led after Friday, is three back in a pack at 12 under.
Platforms
PurePlay's early-access window opened Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern after weeks of flyovers and closed beta (our story). SkyTrak posted a practice-lab session on YouTube for owners still dialing indoor ranges. No new platform version drop landed overnight beyond what already hit the site Friday on GSPro 4.0/4.1 and the Hosel Rocket Nova dual-feed test.
Build & Gear
Friday's gear stack still stands: MyGolfSpy's 2026 Pro V1x Left Dash Ball Lab, Callaway's Q3 note that the Good Good ad fight did not materially hit sales, and Uneekor's EYE MINI phone and Awesome Golf path. Overnight Callaway chatter about a planned Texas 3D-printing investment points to mid-2027 operations and 2028 custom titanium, not a club you can buy this weekend.

Courses & Play
At Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal, Ben James followed an opening 65 with a bogey-free 8-under 64, five straight birdies in the middle, and sits at 15-under 129. Golfweek and the ESPN leaderboard have him one clear of Peter Malnati (66-64) and three ahead of Zac Blair. Chris Kirk's Thursday 63 became an even-par 72 Friday. The second round paused for darkness Friday evening before finishing.
Creators
Internet Invitational Episode 4 is circulating in full. The end of the Kyle-Salim match and the NELK stretch both landed as separate clips from the show and Fore Play. Good Good's 50-state run hit Day 40 live from Missouri.
Swing Lab
WTGL posted Annika Sorenstam walking through SOS, the new par-3 that can stretch to 233 yards, ahead of Sunday's opener. Keep stance thoughts simple if you are stealing feels for the Screen: pick a landing window and commit before the ball is on the tee.
The Game
After Friday at Yas Links, Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton and Francesco Laporta shared the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship lead at 12 under. Rory McIlroy's 11-birdie 63 left him one back at 11 under with Adrian Meronk, Matthew Jordan and Sam Bairstow, per the DP World Tour and Golfmagic. Saturday's third round is in progress in the UAE; finals for Abu Dhabi, Japan and Cabo all land Sunday.
Coming up and why it matters
WTGL's first match is Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern on ESPN: Los Angeles Golf Club (Michelle Wie West, Alison Lee, Gaby Lopez) against New York Golf Club (Rose Zhang, Linn Grant, Lydia Ko) at SoFi Center. Zhang is listed for the first tee shot in league history. For sim golfers, it is the first live look at women's triples and singles on the same Screen and GreenZone setup TGL uses. Japan, Abu Dhabi and the World Wide Technology Championship also crown winners Sunday.
