Swing Lab
Bermuda's wind gave a free lesson in trajectory. Power said he wanted to hit it low but the elevated tees and upslopes made the flight hard to judge. At the par-5 17th he hit 5-wood off the tee and 5-wood into the green, both hard draws into a wind coming off the left, and two-putted for birdie. Smotherman said his group switched to "super simple shots" once the wind picked up on the back nine, yet a 7-iron chip at the par-3 16th still flew into a back bunker about 35 yards long.
The Game
Yoshida shot 68 to finish at 17-under 271. She eagled the par-5 second and birdied five through seven, then bogeyed the 18th and waited. Overnight leader Haeran Ryu shot 73 and bogeyed the last too, and she tied Hye-Jin Choi for second at 16 under. Yoshida, 26, earned $352,500 in steady rain. The LPGA heads to Kuala Lumpur next week.
Yuto Katsuragawa won the Genesis Championship by two over Frederic Lacroix and Martin Couvra at 13-under 271, a day after tying the Woo Jeong Hills course record with a 63. Sean Crocker's weekend of 69 and 68 moved him past Eddie Pepperell, who finished 101st in the Race to Dubai, one spot outside full DP World Tour status for 2027. Justin Rose called him a class act.
Pepperell had just questioned DP World Tour spots for players leaving LIV (story), and Lee Westwood said LIV players without status should go to Q School (story).
In Bermuda, Power shot 67 and Smotherman 66 to sit at 16-under 197, two clear of Taylor Moore, Corey Conners and Ben Silverman. Power is No. 103 in the FedExCup Fall and needs the top 100 to keep full status.
