Los Angeles Golf Club and New York Golf Club will open WTGL on November 8, bringing women’s team golf to SoFi Center before the men return for their third season. The first match starts at 3 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
Michelle Wie West is on the Los Angeles roster. New York has Lydia Ko and Rose Zhang. Each club selects three players from a squad of five, giving both teams decisions to make before the opening tee shot.
The first WTGL season will move quickly. Its five clubs play 10 regular-season matches, with four teams advancing to the playoffs. The semifinals fall on December 20 and 21; the best-of-three final follows on December 22 and 23.
Four days after the women’s final is scheduled to finish, men’s TGL begins its 2027 season. Los Angeles returns as champion, and Motor City expands the field to seven clubs. Brooks Koepka became the Detroit team’s first announced player in August, adding a five-time major winner to a competition he has previously watched from the stands.
Both leagues use the same Palm Beach Gardens arena, where players hit longer shots into a simulator screen before moving to a physical green for the short game.
Wie West returns with Los Angeles
Wie West already has a connection to the building. An investor in Los Angeles Golf Club, she attended TGL matches before announcing her return to competition through WTGL in February. The 2014 U.S. Women’s Open champion joins a roster that also includes Romero, who turned professional this year after playing college golf at Oregon.
Atlanta brings Minjee Lee and Yuka Saso together with Charley Hull. In his August 31 roster analysis for WTGL, Justin Ray identified Atlanta as the only club with two multiple-major winners: Lee had three and Saso two. Motor City’s group includes Jeeno Thitikul, Brooke Henderson, Lexi Thompson and Ruoning Yin.
Boston and Los Angeles put the Iwai twins on opposite rosters. Chizzy plays for Boston; Aki plays for Los Angeles. The clubs meet in the December 15 regular-season finale.

The league’s announced squads each contain five players, with three competing in each match.

Koepka gives Motor City its first name
Motor City is the first expansion club in men’s TGL. Its August 26 announcement made Koepka the first player on the roster. He had visited SoFi Center in February 2025 for a match between Jupiter Links and The Bay.
The club joins a league whose first two titles went to Atlanta and Los Angeles. L.A. beat Jupiter Links in the 2026 final. The league’s team directory lists Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood for the defending champion.
ESPN and TMRW Sports announced a multiyear U.S. media-rights extension on October 1, keeping the league with its original domestic broadcast partner.
Men’s TGL teams
These are the players listed in the league’s team directory on October 2, plus Motor City’s announced signing.
- Atlanta Drive GC: Billy Horschel, Lucas Glover, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay
- Boston Common Golf: Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, Adam Scott
- Jupiter Links Golf Club: Tiger Woods, Max Homa, Tom Kim, Kevin Kisner
- Los Angeles Golf Club: Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood
- New York Golf Club: Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Young
- The Bay Golf Club: Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, Shane Lowry
- Motor City Golf Club: Brooks Koepka; further signings to come
As of October 2, the men’s December 27 start is confirmed, but its opening matchup, start time and full season schedule have not been announced.
From the screen to the green
SoFi Center’s field of play has two distinct parts. Full shots go into a 64-foot-wide screen; chips, pitches and putts finish on a physical short-game complex. The green sits on a turntable and can change its contours between holes.
The men’s published rules, which still describe the six-team competition, provide the starting point for understanding TGL:
- 15 holes: Nine holes of three-player alternate shot, followed by six singles holes
- Hole scoring: One point for winning a hole, with no carryover after a tie
- The Hammer: Each team has three. An accepted Hammer adds one point to the hole; declining concedes it. A Hammer thrown before either side tees off must be accepted
- The clock: Players have 40 seconds to hit, with a one-shot penalty for a violation
- Overtime: A tied match goes to a best-of-three closest-to-the-pin contest
WTGL has confirmed three-a-side matches, a shot clock and the Hammer. Its competition announcement says hole distances and shot shapes will be tailored using performance data from women’s golf.
