TGL's 2027 schedule and a flooded Dumbarton lead Tuesday's golf day

TGL set a December 27 opener and added a play-in for its third season. A storm swamped a Scottish course from 1888, and a free sim platform got a split review.

  • TGL put out its full 2027 schedule on Tuesday, opening December 27 with Brooks Koepka's expansion Motor City team and a Tiger Woods rematch with Los Angeles. In Scotland, Storm Boelo left the 1888 Dumbarton Golf Club almost entirely under water.

    Platforms

Burdie Golf's first look at Muni Golf, the free sim software that builds courses from real terrain data, calls it "the best free software that I've seen on the market, hands down." He tested it on a ProTee VX and liked the second screen most, which shows impact location, club path, face angle and shot history. He found the short-game and bunker physics "cartoonish" and still prefers paid ShotForge for course play (story).

Full Swing posted that William Mouw is using its KIT launch monitor to check his numbers at this week's VidantaWorld Mexico Open. That is the company's own post, not an independent test.

A collapsed River Leven embankment flooded Dumbarton over the weekend, and the club says water seeps back at every high tide. Vice-captain Paul Savage told the Glasgow Times the club has "one chance" to pump the course out. Management has cut operating hours, and engineers still have to review the embankment with no timescale set (story).

  • In Akron, the LeBron James Family Foundation plans a youth golf center near House Three Thirty. No size, features or opening date have been announced (story).

James revealed the center in an hour-long YouTube video in which he and Randy Mims tried to break 100 at Angels National for a donation of $1 million or $1.5 million, per the Akron Beacon Journal. Neither broke 100, and James said "the challenge continues."

Defending Asia-Pacific Amateur champion Fifa Laopakdee says Te Arai's greens are "very, very firm" and that in the wind "you have to keep the ball low and in play." If your software has wind settings, turn them up and practice a knockdown that lands short and runs.

    The Game

The TGL regular season drops to 14 matches, each team plays four, and a new play-in between the fourth and fifth seeds fills the last Semifinal spot. Three matches air on ABC. General ticket sales open November 4 at 10 a.m. ET (story).

  • South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas told SEN radio the state will not host LIV Adelaide at Kooyonga in March unless the league keeps players like Cameron Smith and Bryson DeChambeau. He expects an answer in two to three weeks (story).

The Asia-Pacific Amateur begins Thursday in New Zealand, Wednesday night in the U.S., with a Masters invitation for the winner. ESPN+ carries every round from 9 p.m. to midnight ET (story).

    What to do now

Put December 27 on the calendar: ESPN at 1 p.m. ET and ABC at 3 p.m. ET. If you want a free platform to try between subscriptions, download Muni Golf and compare it with what you run now. Watch for TGL lineup news and for LIV's restructuring date around November 2, which Malinauskas named as the next marker for Adelaide.
