TGL's 2027 schedule adds a play-in and opens Dec. 27 with Koepka and Woods

  • TGL released its full 2027 schedule on Tuesday, October 27, and the third season opens with a doubleheader at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Sunday, Dec. 27. Rory McIlroy's Boston Common Golf plays Brooks Koepka and expansion team Motor City Golf Club at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN. Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links Golf Club then faces defending SoFi Cup champion Los Angeles Golf Club at 3 p.m. ET on ABC, a rematch of last season's Finals.

    A shorter regular season with a play-in

The league now has seven teams with five players each, up from six teams of four. The regular season drops to 14 matches from 15, and each team plays four times instead of five. The teams that finish fourth and fifth in the SoFi Cup Standings meet in a new play-in match, and the winner joins the top three in the Semifinals. The two Semifinal winners play a best-of-three Finals.

Three matches air on ABC this season, up from one in 2026. Besides the Dec. 27 nightcap, ABC has New York Golf Club at Atlanta Drive GC on Saturday, Jan. 9, at noon ET and Motor City at Jupiter Links on Sunday, Jan. 10, at 4 p.m. ET. The rest go to ESPN or ESPN2, with every match also on the ESPN App.

TGL's schedule page lists the Jan. 17 doubleheader as Sunday or Monday, Jan. 18, so that date could still move.

The opener lands four days after the WTGL Finals on Dec. 23. The Palm Beach Post noted that Woods, who last played competitively in the TGL final in March, could make his first appearance of the season on opening day unless he plays the PNC Championship with his son Charlie the weekend before.

    What to do now

Tickets are on presale for fans who register with TGL, and general sale opens Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. ET. Opening Sunday goes up against the NFL's afternoon games, so set ESPN for 1 p.m. and ABC for 3 p.m. Watch for lineup announcements before Dec. 27. With five-player rosters, each team picks three players per match, so who sits in the opener is the next thing to learn.
